Two members from communities in Namaqualand that are involved in the BIOTA group have been selected to receive training by the CLT project team. To date, Reginald Christiaan (from Soebatsfontein) and Marianna Lot (from Paulshoek) are being trained in checking camera traps, entering data using the Cybertracker program and logging data on computer. The trainees have been exposed to various aspects of project management, such as liaising with stakeholders, financial management and report writing. Furthermore, they accompanied the team when they were called out to assist with the leopard caught in a gin trap in Namaqualand. Further training weeks will be conducted later this year.
